Freeway Series Thriller: Angels Stun Dodgers in Extra-Inning Walk-Off!
The Dodgers have been stuck in a frustrating slump for months, and manager Dave Roberts made it clear before the game, “It’s time to play with urgency.” Well, urgency is exactly what fans got… from both sides.
It was Game 2 of the freeway series at the Big A in Anaheim. For the Angels, rookie Victor Mederos was making his first major league start – and it came against none other than the Dodgers. Talk about a trial by fire.

The game exploded into action right away. Shohei Ohtani drew a leadoff walk, Mookie Betts was hit by a pitch, and Teoscar Hernández finally broke out of a slump with an RBI single to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead before the Angels had even batted.
But the Halos weren’t about to sit quietly. In the bottom half, Taylor Ward smashed an RBI double, tying Aaron Judge for second in the AL for RBIs. Moments later, Jo Adell’s gapper brought in another run, and a groundout from Ward made it 3-1 Angels after one inning.
Dodgers answer back
Dalton Rushing’s big swing in the second evened things at 3-3 with a no-doubt homer. The Angels regained the lead in the fourth when Ward blasted his 28th homer of the season – now standing alone in second place in the AL with 89 RBIs. A Renfroe walk and a clutch double stretched the Angels’ lead to 5-3.
The Dodgers weren’t done. Betts, Freeman, and Hernández strung together hits to make it 5-4. A bases-loaded walk tied the game at 5-5. But just when it looked like LA might take control, the Angels turned a jaw-dropping triple play to escape a major jam.

Fast-forward to the ninth. Shohei Ohtani – who had hit into that triple play earlier – stepped in against Kenley Jansen. Career numbers? 0-for-7 with four strikeouts. Result? An absolute missile down the line for his 43rd homer of the year, giving the Dodgers a 6-5 lead.
Angels fight back
Bottom of the ninth, the Angels loaded the bases. Nolan Schanuel’s sac fly tied it at 6-6, sending the game into extras.

In the 10th, Christian Moore dropped a perfect bunt single to put the winning run at third. Joe Adell then chopped one over the infield into left – game over! Angels win 7-6, ripping off Adell’s jersey in a wild celebration.
This was pure freeway series drama – homers, triple plays, late rallies, and a walk-off finish. The Angels may just have the Dodgers’ number this season.
